Goodbye to yew!

The yews had to go. They hid the house and this old house has to much character to hide.

These things were monsters. Just trimming them down involved getting in there with the cutters and really getting dirty. Then the hard work started. These stumps were made of the hardest wood in the world. My father-in-law, who knows what it takes to chop down a tree, said this is one of the hardest stumps he has ever seen. We went through a whole chain saw blade having to sharpen it up to FIVE times per stump! That's right, cut a few inches, sharpen the chain, cut a few more, sharpen the chain, and repeat!

In the end it was all worth it. We can see the house. Everyone who walked by commented on how great it looked. (Of course they knew we couldn't put them back so they might have just been being polite.)

It was a good two days of hard work. Now we have a lot of planting to do!
